Does anyone use an SSD to install a system, general impressions?
The fact is that computer hardware is constantly being improved, more powerful processors, video cards, and fast RAM are produced. At the same time, the speed of writing and reading conventional hard drives over the past 10 years remains at about the same level. From this it follows that such a hard drive is the slowest link in a modern computer, and does not fully reveal the potential of powerful systems.
Therefore, in the new computer, I decided to put the SSD system drive.
First impressions.
I will not say that the system "flies", this is not true. But loading Windows7 is really very fast. The speed of the system itself is also impressive, windows instantly open, and heavy programs run quite quickly. Deficiencies have not yet been found, generally satisfied.)))
Now about some of the nuances. SSD drive is an expensive pleasure, the price for 1 Gigabyte is much higher than that of conventional hard drives. It follows that it is more advisable to use a solid-state drive of small capacity, only for installing the operating system, and programs. Keeping music and video on it is a waste. To store such data, you need to use a regular hard drive with a large capacity. The second feature of the SSD is that it does not need to be defragmented, moreover, defragmenting such a disk is not only useless, but also harmful, it reduces the life of the drive. SSDs have a limited number of rewriting cells and, accordingly, the service life is also theoretically limited. No one really knows how long it will last, since they appeared not so long ago, and there are no clear statistics on this subject.
Fortunately, windows7 can handle such drives carefully, evenly distributing the number of write cycles across the cells. This has a beneficial effect on the service life. Therefore, it is not recommended to install Windows XP drives on SSDs
When installing the SSD drive, there should be no problems, the only thing you need is a mount in the 3.5 "bay, since the drives themselves are the size of a laptop’s hard drive
